Why you’re not perfect (and it’s fine)

It’s easy to talk ourselves up as a paragon of right-thinking and balanced behaviour.

  • I’m very easy going
  • I don’t judge people
  • I live and let live
  • I’m very open-minded
  • I’m never unnecessarily rude
  • I treat everyone equally
  • I always tell the truth
  • I won’t get into arguments
  • Nothing makes me angry
  • I never use foul language (yeah, right…lol)

Fact is, you’re probably on a scale with all that stuff, as pretty much everyone is.

And you don’t need to be a saint.

You just need set a standard that’s [at least] as high as the audience you’re trying to influence.

Otherwise, we might rule out any possibility of a meaningful relationship with you.
