At this point in history, and maybe even specifically this week, we are surrounded by news.
Angry, tragic, divisive news.
All designed to create one effect in its consumers.
Addiction.
The more news you consume, the more addicted you become.
And the more consumed is your attention with forming and reinforcing your opinions and feelings.
“He’s such a terrible person!”
“How tragic those events!”
“How could anyone live like that?”
“This is going to be awful for me!”
“What are we leaving for the children?”
And so it goes. Round and round, word-by-word altering your world, and not for the better.
It’s a recipe for sleep-walking the rest of your days, obsessed with everything apart from what truly matters – your own health, wealth and well-being.
Better idea:
- Focus 100% on the things you can directly control
- The outcomes your input can influence
- The glorious work you create
- The people you help
- Financial strength
The only thing that keeps me awake at night is the thought I may not have achieved enough today, coupled with the urge to do better tomorrow.
Now that’s my news. How about yours?
