So few practitioners in my community seem to be using email effectively.
They either hardly ever send one, or they have a microscopic following, or they don’t even try to sell anything.
But here’s the thing with your email list: it’s more and more becoming the only thing that is actually yours.
By which I mean ~
- Your Facebook profile, page or group isn’t yours
- Your Instagram account isn’t yours
- Your TikTok account isn’t yours
- Your LinkedIn profile isn’t yours
And neither are any of your connections or their contact details.
They belong to the faceless monolithic corporations who run them, who can (and do) dump their users at the click of a mouse, consigning years of nurturing and engagement to digital dust.
On the other hand, your email list and the stuff you write and send out can’t be hijacked, banned or closed down by anybody.
Use social media to its fullest, of course.
But always respect, protect and nurture what’s truly yours at the same time.
