This’ll ruin your life, for sure

Easter

These last few years, I’ve been narrowing my circle of concern more and more.

This means I rarely focus on anything outside of what’s likely to make my life better:

Health
Family
Business

And this lets me spend time developing the things I’m FOR, ignoring most of the stuff I’d be AGAINST if I thought about it.

As James Clear says:

“Many people spend large chunks of their day thinking about what they hate. They are always telling you about something they dislike: this food, that subject, this political party, that coworker.

You are more than your frustrations. Build your identity around what you love.”

If you fill your social feeds with political rants, celebrity gossip and “news” about how bad the world is, that’ll flavour your reality. You’ll diminish yourself in the eyes of your ideal clients with every outburst, and waste precious, irreplaceable time when you could be building your legacy.

You’ll also make it exponentially less likely you’ll ever achieve the greatness you crave.

So as we celebrate this glorious Easter weekend, make a pledge to narrow your circle of concern. Focus on what moves the needle for you, and abandon pointless campaigning, preaching and doom-scrolling.

We’re here for a good time, not a long time.

Love you lots
Jonny
