Why yesterday doesn’t matter

I was reading an interview with veteran American songwriter and artist Neil Young, where he said:

“What I do next is as important as anything I’ve ever done. More important, in fact.”

That’s a common theme amongst the great achievers. They often have little respect for what they did yesterday, or the day before.

Enzo Ferrari routinely ordered the destruction of last season’s Formula One machines. His favourite racecar was the next one he built.

The BBC systematically erased tapes of legendary broadcasts to make space for new recordings.

Sitting on laurels is not a success trait.
