10 Success Rules – No 4

Part of my job is to guide you away from wasting time on stuff that doesn’t work, or is just too hard right now. A great example of that is trying to market a product to the wider world, while stepping over opportunities on your virtual (or actual!) doorstep.

The best audience is always a warm audience of people who already KNOW you, LIKE you and TRUST you – the holy trinity of engagement.

Here’s what I mean:

  • Revisit your former clients and ask if they’re ready to buy something new, or even the same again
  • Say to your existing clients, who else do you know who might benefit from what we’ve been working on together?
  • Find non-competing people in your network who could introduce you to any of their clients who might match your ideals
  • Make sure your friends and family are all aware of what you do, and that you’re open for business
  • Talk to your recent network of people who know you, but maybe don’t know what you do yet

Fact is, you’ve likely got a much bigger reach and influence than you give yourself credit for.

Leverage that to the hilt before you venture into the unknown.
