Sorry, not sorry

I dropped a post in the Group the other day, offering to take a look at members’ businesses and give them a short pro-tip to help meet their financial goals in 2024.

Wow, what a response! The current Mrs C was rather miffed at how much time I spent on my phone responding to comments.

This is supposed to still be the “holiday” season, apparently. Oh well.

One thing I noticed as a common thread was how hard some members try to disguise their work as something else.

Yep, numerous skilled coaches and therapists avoid stating the outcome they provide for their clients in simple, clear terms so others might see it and realise they need it too.

There’s often a paucity of case studies, testimonials and simple benefit statements for interested prospects to browse and enjoy.

Instead, they dress up their work in esoteric, magical language that makes them sound more like a medieval alchemist than a serious 21st century business owner. Stars, rainbows and fairies erupt from their pages like Disney on LSD.

And, of course, I pointed this out whenever I found it.

Guess what? Folks didn’t wanna hear it. How dare I be so unkind to their groundbreaking ideas?!

One even wrote to me privately, demanding they be unsubscribed, removed and expunged from my life forever.

Well here’s the thing:

I’m not your mom, and you’re not 8 years old.

I’m not here to pat you on the head, give you a glass of hot milk and tuck you in. If you ask for my advice, there’ll be no pretty lies so you’ll sleep better tonight.

Branding and marketing online is getting harder every year, and I care more about making you successful than making you feel comfortable.

Now, do you want my help or not?

Love you lots
Jonny
